Riesling Maximum 2019
Many decades of growth form vines of mighty, gnarly stature. Our Maximum is sourced from a selction of these low yielding old vines. Their roots dig deep in the meager primary rock soils of our historic terraced slopes. The most valuable grapes of a vintage remain on the vine during the main picking season and are harvested when they have reached their full ripeness and flavour concentration. Before bottling, the wine spends at least two full winters on the lees. This is how this dense and juicy Riesling is created, with the unmistakable Hiedler signature.

From 45-80 year old vines. After various preselections the grapes were harvested by hand in late October and early November. In the cellar they were slightly crushed. After some hours of maceration they were gently pressed off with low pressure. Fermented in stainless-steel tanks and matured for several months in tank and in oak cask on the lees. Bottled at high atmospheric pressure during the waxing moon in June 2021.
Delightful melange of fruits, red peaches, apricot pulp, orange biscuit, a hint of limoncello; wunderfully rich fruit, super juicy and totally balanced, elegance and finesse make you forget the mighty stature of the wine, gains more and more momentum towards the end and remains generous to the last drop; a nectar to fall in love with!
