Vintage:
Riesling Ried Kogelberg 2016
Kogelberg, the northernmost as 'Erste Lage' classified vineyard in Austria, lies directly at the opening to the Kamptal basin. The slope is strongly influenced by cool air streaming out of the 'Waldviertel' area (a cold and extensive area densliy covered with forests, sitting right behind the Kamptal), creating favorable microclimatic conditions. The vines grow on purely crystallin rock, dominated by bronze coloured mica schist, lending it's Rieslings a dark-mineral character.
[1.ÖTW = Classified Vineyard, Erste Lage (Premier Cru)] [Ried = Austrian Term for single vineyard, same meaning as “Lage”]
