Riesling Ried Kogelberg 2017
Kogelberg, the northernmost as 'Erste Lage' classified vineyard in Austria, lies directly at the opening to the Langenlois basin. The slope is strongly influenced by cool air streaming out of the 'Waldviertel' area (a cold and extensive area densliy covered in forests, sitting right north of the Kamptal), creating favorable microclimatic conditions. The vines grow on crystallin rock, dominated by bronze coloured mica schist, lending it's Rieslings a dark-mineral character.
[1.ÖTW = Classified Vineyard, Erste Lage (Premier Cru)] [Ried = Austrian Term for single vineyard, same meaning as “Lage”]

Wine description
Flinty and stony minerality, reminds of dark slate, backed by a pronounced and elegant character of stonefruit, apricots, tangerine, contured with a fine but tight acidity, the dark minerality of Kogelberg is shining through in every phase; complex, deep and nobel. - Vinaria 2018/19
