Riesling Ried Heiligenstein 2018
A vineyard that defines our Kamptal landscape like no other and stands as one of the most renowned and exceptional crus in Austria. The Heiligenstein is a unique geological formation within Europe; a geological island. The old vines thrive in a multifaceted sedimentary soil structure, featuring sandstone conglomerate alongside red arkoses and volcanic quartz porphyries. This Permian soil, dating back 280 million years, is truly unique. 60-year-old vines, planted on narrow terraces, yield a highly complex Riesling with a strong personality and a delicately spicy mineral expression.

Vinification
The grapes were selectively hand-harvested in early October. Gently whole-cluster pressed over several hours. Fermented in stainless-steel tank, followed by several months of aging on the lees. Bottled at high atmospheric pressure during the waxing moon in July 2019. 100% artisanal.
Wine description
Yellow stone-fruit nuances layered with a hint of fresh orange zest, complemented by fresh yellow greengages and peach, with a mineral touch. Juicy, with delicate fruit sweetness, subtly reminiscent of apricot, fine and well-integrated acidity, elegant, light-footed, and long-lasting on the palate. Very good length, classy, with great aging potential.
