Pinot Noir Käferberg Reserve 2019
The grapes for this reserve thrive at an altitude of around 325 meters on a terrace on the southeast slope of the Käferberg in Langenlois, one of the most significant crus in Kamptal. Within a small area one can find crystalline rocks alternating with much younger clay marl, calcareous loess, and rare gravels that were deposited in the ancient Paratethys sea millions of years ago. The vineyard was planted with a particularly high density of vines. The intensified competition for water and nutrients forces the roots to grow even deeper into the soil, resulting in small and wonderfully concentrated grapes. The result is characterized by cool elegance and a calmly flowing fruit, complemented by the typical saline freshness of the Käferberg.

THE NEW VINTAGE WILL BE RELEASED IN AUTUMN 2023

Vinification
The perfectly ripe grapes were selectively harvested by hand end of September and very gently destemmed without crushing the berries. Open fermentation in small batches with a small percentage of whole grapes. The mash was pressed off after several weeks of fermentation. Matured in small oak barrels for 2 years on the lees. Bottled at high atmospheric pressure during the waxing moon in September 2021.
