Grüner Veltliner Familienreserve 2012
With this wine we follow an old family tradition that was already maintained by our ancestors. To make room for the coming vintage, the wine cellar usually had to be emptied by the next harvest. Not completely, however. The best barrel was allowed to rest and to reach its optimum drinking age before it was released. Today this beautiful tradition carries the name Familienreserve (Family Reserve). For our Familienreserve 2012, we put aside a small part of our best Veltliner and gave it time. It matured for 8 years in traditional acacia casks on the lees. This unique wine combines creaminess and elegance with depth, finesse and an ethereal fruit-concentration.
By the way: The label is based on an old painting showing the winery in the 1930s.

Wine description
A highly complex wine rests in the glass, the scent is deep and reminiscent of ripe pomaceous fruit, aniseed, rosemary, dried pears and bread, a white peppery spice and some beeswax blend in, smoky tobacco note; power and finesse balance each other on the palate, sublime, ripe yellow fruits, baked apples, some radish, wonderful drinkability, flows almost weightless over the tounge, extremely delicate, profound and mineral, some honey in the ever so calm flowing finish. Has many more years ahead of it!
