Chardonnay Toasted & Unfiltered Magnum 2018
Burgundian varietals thrive on the lime-rich clays, sands and gravels of the Kamptal. Our old Chardonnay vines grow on the terraces of our Kittmannsberg and Thal vineyard. Here the small grapes can slowly ripen to reach their full aromatic potential. After fermentation in large and small barrels, the wine matures for two years in small, toasted oak barrels. It is later bottled without filtration in order to develop its optimum quality. The result is a dense and powerful Chardonnay with the unmistakable Hiedler signature.
[This wine was bottled without filtration and can therefore form sediments while aging.]

The ripe grapes were selectively harvested by hand in early October and slightly crushed. After some hours of maceration they were gently pressed off with low pressure. Fermented in big and small oak barrels, followed by two years of maturation in Barrique on the lees. Bottled at high atmospheric pressure during the waxing moon in August 2020.
Wine description
Out of the glass flows the scent of a ripe mango, bright fruit dominates, carried by a gentle toasting, ripe and clear. On the palate the wines shows a lot of pressure, yellow fruit, some red berries, yellow and red vineyard peach, fruit and delicate smoky wood aroma in a harmonious symbiosis, also some roasted almonds and mocha beans, creamy, enormously multi-layered and fine with a chalky-salty finish.
