Chardonnay Toasted & Unfiltered 2017
One of our cult-wines. Some great wines are sourced from the chalky loess soils of the Kamptal. The basin-shaped topographic depression in 'Kittmannsberg', as well as the terraces in the 'Thal', are the crus for our Chardonnay grapes that allow long maturation and full flavour concentration. The wine ages for two years in small, toasted oak barrels, before it is bottled unfiltered to develop its optimum quality.

Selective harvest by hand in early October. Destemmed and crushed. Without sulphurisation of the grape must or juice. Gently pressed with low pressure. Fermentation in a cask of acacia and oak. Matured for several months in small, toasted oak barrels on the lees. Batonnage. Bottled unfiltered at high atmospheric pressure during the waxing moon in August 2019.
Wine description
Out of the glass flows the scent of a ripe mango, bright fruit dominates, carried by a gentle toasting, ripe and clear. On the palate the wines shows a lot of pressure, yellow fruit, some red berries, yellow and red vineyard peach, fruit and delicate smoky wood aroma in a harmonious symbiosis, also some roasted almonds and mocha beans, creamy, enormously multi-layered and fine with a chalky-salty finish.
