Pinot Noir Käferberg Reserve 2021
The grapes for this Reserve thrive on a terrace on the southeast flank of the Käferberg in Langenlois, one of the outstanding vineyards in the Kamptal, at an altitude of about 325 meters above sea level. In a small area here, old crystalline rock fragments alternate with young clay marl, chalky loess, and rare pebbles that were deposited in the Paratethys Sea millions of years ago. The vineyard was planted with a particularly high plant density. The intense competition for water and nutrients forces the roots to penetrate even deeper into the soil, resulting in small and wonderfully concentrated grapes. The result is characterized by elegance and calmly flowing fruit, complemented by the typical salty freshness of the Käferberg.

Vinification
Perfectly ripe grapes were selectively handpicked at the end of September and subsequently destemmed in the cellar without crushing. A small portion of whole grapes was added. Two-week fermentation in small fermentation tanks, the must is only manually punched down by hand. Several months of aging on the lees in small oak barrels. Bottled in August 2023, during high atmospheric pressure and the waxing moon phase. 100% artisanal.
Wine description
Highly concentrated and lively on the nose, with delicate raspberry, rosehip, and blackthorn fruit, complemented by subtly smoky, wood-infused spices. It dances on the palate, offering cool, red berry notes in a tight-knit structure, as well as hints of forest berries. Deep and persistent, it finishes with a salty-fruity character. This youthful Pinot Noir has great aging potential!
